SHANNON AIRPORT (AMENDMENT) BYE-LAWS, 1969.

I, ERSKINE H. CHILDERS, Minister for Transport and Power, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Air Navigation and Transport Act, 1950 (No. 4 of 1950), and the Transport, Fuel and Power (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1959 ( S.I. No. 125 of 1959 ), hereby make the following bye-laws :—

1. These bye-laws may be cited as the Shannon Airport (Amendment) Bye-Laws, 1969.

2. The Shannon Airport Bye-Laws, 1953 ( S.I. No. 150 of 1953 ), are hereby amended by the substitution for Article 5 of the following:

"5. (1) The speed limits for vehicles within the Airport shall be as follows :

(a) forty miles an hour on—

(i) that part of the road which runs from Ballymurtagh Cross to the Control Tower and which lies between the point in the townland of Tullyglass 1,584 feet from Ballymurtagh Cross and the point in the townland of Rineanna South 11,088 feet from Ballymurtagh Cross, and

(ii) that part of the said road extending from the point in the townland of Ballyhennessy 14,256 feet from Ballymurtagh Cross to the end of the road in the vicinity of the Control Tower; and

(b) thirty miles an hour elsewhere.

(2) No person shall drive a vehicle (other than a fire brigade vehicle, ambulance or Garda Síochána vehicle) in any part of the Airport at a speed exceeding the speed limit hereby specified for that part ".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The purpose of these bye-laws is to amend the speed limits prescribed in Article 5 of the Shannon Airport Bye-Laws, 1953 for the driving of vehicles within Shannon Airport.
