INSURANCE (INTERMITTENT UNEMPLOYMENT) ACT, 1942 (AMENDMENT OF RATES OF WEEKLY CONTRIBUTIONS) REGULATIONS, 1978. | ||||||||
The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 46 of the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act. 1942 (No. 7 of 1942), and the Social Welfare (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) (No. 1) Order, 1947 (S.R. & O., No. 18 of 1947), and with the concurrence of the Minister for Finance, hereby makes the following regulations:— 1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 (Amendment of Rates of Weekly Contributions) Regulations, 1978. | ||||||||
(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1979. 2. The Second Schedule to the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 (No. 7 of 1942) as amended by the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 (Amendment of Rates of Weekly Contributions and Supplementary Benefit) Regulations, 1978 ( S.I. No. 139 of 1978 ) is hereby amended— | ||||||||
( a ) by substituting a weekly rate of contribution of 71 new pence for each such rate of 47 new pence and | ||||||||
( b ) by substituting a weekly rate of contribution of 69 new pence for each such rate of 46 new pence and | ||||||||
( c ) by substituting a weekly rate of contribution of 26 new pence for each such rate of 17 new pence. | ||||||||

EXPLANATORY NOTE. | ||||||||
The effect of the Regulations is to increase the weekly "Wet Time" contributions payable under the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 , by insured persons and their employers. | ||||||||
The weekly contributions are fixed by these Regulations at the following rates from 1st January, 1979:— | ||||||||
