S.I. No. 288/2014 - Local Government (Superannuation) (Consolidation) (Amendment) Scheme 2014.

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 24th June, 2014.

The Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, in exercise of the power confirmed on him by sections 2 and 5 of the Local Government (Superannuation) Act 1980 (No 8 of 1980) as adapted by the Environment, Heritage and Local Government (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2011 ( SI No 193 of 2011 ), and with the consent of the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, hereby makes the following Scheme:

1. (1) This Scheme may be cited as the Local Government (Superannuation) (Consolidation) (Amendment) Scheme 2014.

(2) The Local Government (Superannuation) (Consolidation) Scheme 1998 to 2012 and this Scheme may be cited together as the Local Government (Superannuation) (Consolidation) Scheme 1998 to 2014.

2. This scheme shall be deemed to have come into operation on 26th of July 2012.

3. The Local Government (Superannuation) (Consolidation) Scheme 1998 ( S.I. No. 455 of 1998 ) is amended in article 78 (inserted by article 5 of the Local Government (Superannuation) (Consolidation) (Amendment) Scheme 2012 ( S.I. No. 291 of 2012 ) by inserting the following paragraph after paragraph (c) of sub-article (1):

“(d) there shall be granted to him or her a lump sum and allowance with the effect from the date he or she ceases to hold office, determined in accordance with articles 70 and 71.”.

This Scheme amends the Local Government (Superannuation) (Consolidation) Scheme 1998 to provide for changes in pension entitlements for Managers and Directors of Services appointed on or after the date of commencement.
