S.I. No. 260/2018 - Employment Equality Act 1998 (section 12) (Reservation of vocational training places) Order 2018

I, RICHARD BRUTON, Minister for Education and Skills, following an application to me by Dublin City University (the University having received representations made to them by the Church of Ireland Teacher Education Designated Activity Company (Companies Registration Office no. 590327), which was formed, to represent the interests of the Church of Ireland community as they relate to teacher education, as a result of the incorporation of the Church of Ireland College of Education into the University) and with the consent of the Minister for Justice and Equality, hereby, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 12 of the Employment Equality Act 1998 (No. 21 of 1998), make the following order with respect to which, pursuant to section 3(2) of that Act, a draft has been laid before each House of the Oireachtas and a resolution approving of the draft has been passed by each such House:

1. This Order may be cited as the Employment Equality Act 1998 (section 12) (Reservation of vocational training places) Order 2018.

2. Dublin City University may reserve 32 places in its vocational education courses leading to the degree of Bachelor of Education and commencing in the academic years 2018/2019, 2019/2020, 2020/2021, 2021/2022 and 2022/2023, being such number of places as seem reasonably necessary to the Minister for Education and Skills to meet the purposes set out in section 12 (4) of the Employment Equality Act 1998 (No. 21 of 1998).

The Minister for Justice and Equality consents to the making of the foregoing order.
