EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

These regulations amend Part II of the Second Schedule to the Electoral Act 1992 in order to remove the need for someone to sign an application to be entered on the Supplement to the Register of Electors in the presence of a member of the Garda Síochána from the applicant’s local Garda station, if they wish to register online instead in a local authority/registration authority that has put in place an electronic means to facilitate this, providing they can verify their identity online according to the criteria stated.
