S.I. No. 405/2022 - Industrial Training (Sporting Grounds Industry) Order 2022

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 5th August, 2022.

An tSeirbhís Oideachais Leanúnaigh agus Scileanna, after making such inquiries as it thinks proper and consultation with organisations and associations appearing to it to be representative of substantial numbers of employers in the activities referred to in this Order and of substantial numbers of persons employed in such activities, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of the Industrial Training Act 1967 (No. 5 of 1967) and by section 38 of the Further Education and Training Act 2013 (No. 25 of 2013) hereby makes the following Order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Industrial Training (Sporting Grounds Industry) Order 2022.

2. The following activities are hereby declared to be designated industrial activities for the purposes of the Industrial Training Act 1967 (No. 5 of 1967):

(a) creating, preparing and maintaining outdoor grounds including parks, grassland, sporting facilities and artificial sports pitches for sporting and recreational purposes.

3. In this Order :

“artificial sports pitches” means man-made outdoor sporting facilities;

“grassland” means an area in which the vegetation is dominated by a nearly continuous cover of grasses;

“sporting facility” means a specific area relating to or used for sport

EXPLANATORY NOTE

An tSeirbhís Oideachais Leanúnaigh agus Scileanna was established under the Further Education and Training Act 2013 to promote training in industry and commerce.

This Order defines the activities of the sporting grounds industry in relation to which An tSeirbhís Oideachais Leanúnaigh agus Scileanna shall exercise its functions in the creation of statutory apprenticeships.
