I, EAMON RYAN, Minister for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving further effect to Directive 2014/90/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 July 20141 and full effect to Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/1157 of 4 July 20222 , hereby make the following regulations: | ||
1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Union (Marine Equipment) (Amendment) Regulations 2022. | ||
2. In these Regulations “Principal Regulations” means the European Union (Marine Equipment) Regulations 2017 ( S.I. No. 177 of 2017 ). | ||
3. Regulation 2 of the Principal Regulations is amended in paragraph (1) by the substitution for the definition of the “Directive” of the following: | ||
“‘Directive’ means Directive 2014/90/EU of July 20141 , as amended by Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/1157 of 4 July 20222 ;”. | ||
4. Regulation 10 of the Principal Regulations is amended in paragraph (2) by the substitution for subparagraph (b) of the following: | ||
“(b) have the conformity assessment carried out, through a notified body, using one of the procedures referred to in Article 15(2)(a) or (b) of the Directive and the modules for conformity assessment set out in the Annex to Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/1157 of 4 July 20222 ,”. | ||
5. Regulations 3(a) and 4 of the European Union (Marine Equipment) (Amendment) Regulations 2021 (S. I. No. 625 of 2021) are revoked. | ||

This Statutory Instrument amends the European Union (Marine Equipment) Regulations 2017 ( S.I. No. 177 of 2017 ), which gave effect to Directive 2014/90/EU of 23 July 2014, to take account of Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/1157 of 4 July 2022. | ||
