I, MARTIN HEYDON, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), for the purpose of giving effect to Commission Implementing Directive (EU) 2024/3010 of 29th November 20241 , hereby make the following regulations: | ||
1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Marketing of Vegetable Propagating and Planting Material, other than Seed) (Amendment) Regulations 2025. | ||
2. The European Communities (Marketing of Vegetable Propagating and Planting Material, other than Seed) Regulations 2014 (S.I. 152 of 2014) are amended in Regulation 2(1) by substituting for the definition of “Directive” (as amended by the European Communities (Marketing of Vegetable Propagating and Plant Material, other than Seed) (Amendment) (No.2) Regulations 2020 ( S.I. No. 200 of 2020 )), the following – | ||
“‘Directive’ means Council Directive No. 2008/72/EC of 15th July 20082 (as amended by Commission Implementing Decision 2013/166/EU of 2 April 20133 , Commission Implementing Directive 2013/45/EU of 7th August 20134 and Commission Implementing Directive (EU) 2019/990 of 17 June 2019)5 , Commission Directive 93/61/EEC of 2 July 19935 (as amended by Commission Implementing Directive (EU) 2020/177 of 11 February 2020) and Commission Implementing Directive (EU) 2024/3010 of 29th November 2024;”. | ||
3. The European Communities (Marketing of Vegetable Propagating and Plant Material, other than Seed) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2020 ( S.I. No. 200 of 2020 ) are revoked. | ||

EXPLANATORY NOTE | ||
(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.) | ||
These Regulations give effect to the provisions of Commission Implementing Directive (EU) 2024/3010 by amending the Directive as they relate to inspections for Union regulated non-quarantine pests (RNQPs) and measures intended to prevent their presence on vegetable propagating and planting material other than seed for planting. | ||
