I, PASCHAL DONOHOE, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving further effect to Regulation (EU, Euratom) No 883/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 September 20131 , as last amended by Regulation (EU, Euratom) 2020/2223 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 December 20202 , hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Union (Investigations Conducted by the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF)) (Competent Authority) Regulations 2025.

2. (1) In these Regulations –

“FIU Ireland” has the same meaning as it has in Part 4 of the Criminal Justice (Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing) Act 2010 (No. 6 of 2010);

“Regulation (EU, Euratom) No 883/2013” means Regulation (EU, Euratom) No 883/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 September 20131 concerning investigations conducted by the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) and repealing Regulation (EC) No 1073/1999 of the European Parliament and of the Council and Council Regulation (Euratom) No 1074/1999, as last amended by Regulation (EU, Euratom) 2020/2223 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 December 20202 .

(2) A word or expression that is used in these Regulations and that is also used in Regulation (EU, Euratom) No 883/2013 has, unless the context otherwise requires, the same meaning in these Regulations as it has in Regulation (EU, Euratom) No 883/2013.

3. FIU Ireland shall be the relevant competent authority in the State for the purposes of points (a) and (b) of the first subparagraph of Article 7(3a) of Regulation (EU, Euratom) No 883/2013.
