S.I. No. 667/2025 - Ethics in Public Office (Designated Positions in Public Bodies) (Amendment) Regulations 2025

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 2nd January, 2026.

I, JACK CHAMBERS, Minister for Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Ethics in Public Office Act 1995 (No. 22 of 1995) (as adapted by the Standards in Public Office (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) (No. 2) Order 2023 (S.I. No. 367 of 2023) and the Public Expenditure National Development Plan Delivery and Reform (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2025 (S.I. No. 243 of 2025)) and after consultation with every Minister of the Government, hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Ethics in Public Office (Designated Positions in Public Bodies) (Amendment) Regulations 2025.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on 1 January 2026.

3. The Ethics in Public Office (Designated Positions in Public Bodies) Regulations 2004 (S.I. No. 698 of 2004) are amended –

(a) by the substitution of the following Regulation for Regulation 6 (amended by Regulation 2(a) of the Ethics in Public Office (Designated Positions in Public Bodies) (Amendment) Regulations 2018 (S.I. No. 483 of 2018)):

“6. The following offices are prescribed for the purposes of section 18(3)(b)(v) of the Act:

(a) Comptroller and Auditor General;
