LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT, 2001 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER 2006

The Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 7 of the Local Government Act 2001 (No. 37 of 2001), hereby orders as follows:-

1. This Order may be cited as the Local Government Act, 2001 (Commencement) Order 2006.

2. Part 19 of the Local Government Act, 2001 , shall come into operation on 10 July 2006.

3. Section 5(1) of and Part 1 of Schedule 3 to the Local Government Act 2001 shall come into operation on 10 July 2006 to the extent specified in the Schedule to this Order.

This Order brings into operation Part 19 of the Local Government Act, 2001 , which provides a general power for local authorities to make bye-laws, and repeals Part VII of the Local Government Act, 1994 .
