COMMUNICATIONS REGULATION (AMENDMENT) ACT 2007 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER 2007

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 15th May, 2007.

I, NOEL DEMPSEY, Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 1(2) of the Communications Regulation (Amendment) Act 2007 (No. 22 of 2007), hereby order as follows:

Citation

1. This Order may be cited as the Communications Regulation (Amendment) Act 2007 (Commencement) Order 2007.

Days appointed for commencement of provisions of Act

2. (1) The provisions of the Communications Regulation (Amendment) Act 2007 (other than sections 9 and 21) come into operation on 15th May 2007.

(2) Section 9 of the Communications Regulation (Amendment) Act 2007 comes into operation on 1 July 2007.

(3) Section 21 of the Communications Regulation (Amendment) Act 2007 comes into operation on 15th May 2007, except in relation to section 32(2) and (6) of the Electronic Commerce Act 2000 .

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

This Order brings into operation the provisions of the Communications Regulation (Amendment) Act 2007 , except for section 21 in relation to section 32(2) and (6) of the Electronic Commerce Act 2000 . The latter provisions create an offence and will be brought into operation when the necessary regulations have been made.
